The report in the Wall Street Journal, released Wednesday night, cites US officials in Obama\’s administration, who say they discovered Israel had requested a large number of Hellfire missiles directly through military-to-military channels. An initial batch of the missiles was about to be shipped, according to sources in Israel and the US Congress. At that point, the Pentagon stepped in and put the transfer, on hold. Further, top White House officials instructed various US military agencies to consult with the US State Department before approving any additional requests from Israel. A senior Obama administration official was quoted in the report as saying the transfer shouldn\’t have been a routine \”check-the-box approval,\” given Israel\’s defensive operation in Gaza against Hamas, which is recognized as a terrorist organization by the US. The decision to clamp down on future transfers was the equivalent of \”the United States saying \’the buck stops here. Wait a second…It\’s not OK anymore,\’\” said the official. Obama has been at odds with Israel over the defensive operation, in Gaza, making various attempts to press Israel into accepting a truce with the adamant terrorist organization of Hamas. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reportedly responded, to the pressure by telling the administration \”not to ever second guess me again,\” after Hamas committed one of its many ceasefire violations. Currently a new five-day, ceasefire has come into effect as of Wednesday at midnight, with, Obama calling, Netanyahu, shortly thereafter to push, for, a \”sustainable\” ceasefire. According to US officials cited, in the Wall Street Journal report, the Wednesday night phone call between, Obama and, Netanyahu was \”particularly combative.\” \”Discovering\” military-to-military arms transfers. The report noted that on July 20, ahead of the Hellfire missile cancellation, the IDF asked the US military, for, various munitions such as 120-mm, mortar shells, and, 40-mm illuminating rounds, without the knowledge of Obama\’s administration. Three days later the request was approved by the military, without Obama or US Secretary of State John Kerry being approached for approval, given, that, their approval, was not required for such a transfer. A US defense official added that the standard review process in such requests was properly followed. The transfer without Obama\’s unnecessary approval was followed by a similar incident ahead of the Hellfire cancellation, which occurred the same day, as the July 30 IDF strike on terrorists adjacent to a UN school, which the US slammed as \”disgraceful.\” In response, the IDF confirmed it targeted Islamic Jihad terrorists in the vicinity of the school. Previously the IDF provided video evidence, that, Hamas fires rockets from inside schools; further, UNRWA schools have been used, in at least three cases to store Hamas rockets, after which UNRWA repeatedly returned the rockets to Hamas. On the same day as the UN school strike, US reports said the 120-mm and 40-mm rounds had been released, by the US army to the IDF, with one Obama administration official saying \”we were blindsided.\” A US defense official responded, saying \”there was no intent to blindside anyone. The process for this transfer was followed precisely along the lines that it should have.\” Demonstrating the tense ties between Obama\’s administration and Israel, a senior official of the administration told the Wall Street Journal \”we have many, many friends, around the world. The United States is their (Israel\’s) strongest friend.\” \”The notion, that, they are playing the United States, or that they\’re manipulating us publicly, completely miscalculates their place in the world,\” added the official. Towards the start of the video from the incident, which was uploaded by the Joint HQ for Temple Movements, one of the Jews is observed approaching the police, arguing that the raucous chants constitute incitement. The undaunted Jews continued their tour heedless of the threatening and incessant chants of \”Allahu akbar,\” with one sarcastically remarking \”look, three Jews, how many Arabs; they are calling to G-d, they are praying to G-d because of us, it\’s wonderful. You see what we did?\” Sizable police forces are seen in the video proving themselves unable to stop the mass mob of Muslim visitors from pursuing the three Jewish visitors, as they showered insults, curses and words of incitement against them for roughly 20 minutes. After police were unable to separate the Muslims from the Jews, they decided to close the holiest site in Judaism to Jewish visitors almost as soon as it was opened for the day. In light of the total collapse of religious rights for Jews at the site, the Joint HQ for Temple Movements announced it would demand a complete separation of Jews and Muslims at the Temple Mount during the Interior Committee meeting, citing the model of the Cave of Machpelah in Hevron. In particular, he noted the suggestions left the Jordanian Waqf (Islamic trust) with de facto rule, giving them the power to charge tourists money to visit the site. Frans van der Lugt, a Jesuit priest who refused to leave the embattled city of Homs, Syria, in solidarity with the few Christians still living there, was killed by assassins Monday in his garden. Known among the people as Abouna Francis, the native Dutchman had worked in Syria for more than 40 years. He was 75. \”Father Frans was apparently killed by targeted headshots. We have received a phone report from a Christian who was with him in the Old City,\” reported Aid to the Church in Need, a Catholic agency, in an April 7 statement that cited another Jesuit in Syria, Rev. Ziad Hillal. Independent news accounts reported that van der Lugt was forcibly removed from his house and pulled into his garden, where he was shot twice through the head. The son of a banker, Van der Lugt arrived in the Middle East in 1966, first living in Lebanon and moving to Homs in the early 1970s. As is common in the Jesuit order, he was a teacher, with an emphasis in working with special-needs students. As the Syrian civil war approached Homs, the priest resolved to stay with the dwindling Christian community that remained. Tens of thousands of Christians across the country, targeted by rebels who consider them allies of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, have fled their homes during the way, many to other locations in Syria, and others to neighboring Lebanon or Turkey. Once home to an estimated 60,000 Christians, fewer than 30 remain in the Old City sector of Homs, an ancient town that was a rebel stronghold in the early days of the three-year-old Syrian uprising. The government has regained control of much of the city, while rebels retain a hold on the Old City. During a February interview with Dutch radio, van der Lugt explained his reasons for staying in the besieged Old City sector.
\”When I leave, nothing will be left of this building,\” he said. \”And I don\’t want to leave alone the 28 Christians that have remained.\” During the interview, the priest described the Old City as almost completely destroyed, and the people as constantly hungry. A recent food delivery by the UN, he said, \”isn\’t enough at all for the about 2,000 people left.\” \”They brought pans and cloths the people didn\’t need. We need rice, food, that didn\’t come in sufficiently. There is a huge lack of food. At our breakfast we eat olives and drink tea. In the afternoon we make soup with what grows between the stones on the street.\” \”In the evening,\” he said, \”we just see what we can get.\” Even in his advanced age, van der Lugt got around the war-pocked city on his bicycle, tending to the elderly and disabled and trying, like everyone else, to obtain enough food for the day. It was a constant struggle. On Jan. 27, a short video was posted on You Tube in which van der Lugt, sitting before a darkened altar, speaks directly into the camera about the desperate situation in Homs. \”One of our biggest problems is hunger,\” he said. \”There is nothing to eat.\” Rev. Si assiste già ad una spranghetta dopo la menzogna consumata. Se ciò non è stato un caso tragico, se ciò è stato fatto intenzionalmente, l\’unica struttura che aveva motivi per farlo è Kiev. Non è affatto Mosca. Stephen Cohen è convinto che ci troviamo a pochi pollici dalla linea apocalittica oltre la quale può iniziare una guerra reale. Solo gli USA sono adesso in grado di costringere Kiev a cessare i bombardamenti dell\’est del paese.
